Capturing life's special moments, in a meaningful way, is possible for anyone who goes out of their way to learn the nuances of photography. Though anyone can purchase a camera, not every person who holds one, will truly master it. Mastering the art of photography is a process that is learned and anyone who seeks out information can become a great photographer. Follow these tips to achieve your maximum potential behind the lens of your camera.

Learn how to snap a picture quickly. Do not wait for your subject to take a certain pause, this might not happen. Take several pictures if you need to. By taking pictures quickly, you will get natural expressions and pauses. If you wait too long, your subject will probably have a rather rigid and artificial expression.

Make sure you're holding your camera properly to get the best photograph. You want to make sure you have your arms tucked against your sides and one hand should be under the lens to support it. This will help reduce any movement and insure that you're able to get good photos.

When showing off your photographs, make sure to keep your less than perfect pictures at home. You do not want people to see your sub-par work you only want them to see your best work. Delete any pictures on your camera that you do not want anyone else to see.

Pay attention to your lighting, and adjust the white balance if necessary. If you leave the white balance unchanged, photos taken inside can take on a yellow hue because of the artificial light. It is often not necessary to alter the lighting itself, when the white balance can adjusted to give you a wide variety of options. This can help your photos appear more professional.

Here is a handy photo tip! Take the time to learn the ins and outs of shutter speed. Your camera actually has A,M,S and P settings. "P" means program mode. This will have the shutter speed ad aperture already set. "P" is a safe choice if you have no idea what settings you want!

Try to plan out all of your shots. You should plan out everything from the subject, to the angle, to the lighting in the area where you will be shooting. Taking a bit of time to plan all of this out, can lead to much better and more interesting photographs.

Leave yourself some "Lead Room" or "Active Space" when dealing with subjects that move in your shots. This is just basically some empty space either in front of the subject or behind the subject. This makes for a less-cluttered and more pleasing action shot for the viewer to look at.

If you are taking pictures under fluorescent lighting, you need to make sure that you have the right white balance setting on your camera. Fluorescent lights emit blue- or green-tinged light, leaving your subjects looking too cool. The appropriate setting will compensate for the red tones that your lighting environment lacks.

In conclusion, you know what you are doing when it comes to photography but want to make sure that there are not any pieces of advice that you might have missed or forgotten about. This article provided some of the best advice available and hopefully you will be able to use it in some way.
