Bremont selects Laird Hamilton for Waterman Apex Back in 2018, Bremont
luxury replica watches released a limited-edition Supermarine with partner Mark Healy, a free diver and environmentalist, to draw attention to clean water initiatives for Hawaii's sustainable coastline. Called the Waterman, the watch is equipped with a COSC-certified GMT movement. Today, Bremont is following up on the concept with a new Waterman called Apex, this time asking big wave surfer Laird Hamilton to help follow The Bimini Shark Lab, a nonprofit dedicated to better understanding marine animal biology , especially sharks and rays, to raise awareness and strengthen conservation efforts. Apex is similar to the first Waterman, but with some welcome changes.
An asymmetrical Supermarine trip-tick case in steel is used here, with a diameter of 43 mm and a crown at 2 o’clock, on top of the wide guard structure. Oval lugs with polished chamfers give an overall length of 51mm, while the watch measures 16.5mm in height. This is a sturdy watch that can withstand depths of up to 500 meters. The trip-tick case construction allows for some really interesting views of the watch from an angle, the barrel is below the lugs, and creates a unique wrist experience, especially given the case size (this is not flat) .
Hawaiian big wave surfer and marine conservationist Laird Hamilton helped complete the Waterman Apex. While his activities are more superficial, his attitude of "Ocean conservation starts with caring enough for the people who engage them" makes his endorsement of this particular watch a little deeper than the stat line. But that doesn't mean the
swiss replica watches isn't practical.
Unlike the first-generation Waterman, the Apex features a 34-hour bezel with the base position in blue. The dial is also reversed, with a white hour chart, a red second hand and a light blue tipped 24-hour hand on a black base. The central movement of the dial features a shark fin embossed design that distinguishes it from other Supermarine models. The one-piece "harbour" blue rubber strap continues the light blue color scheme, which seems like an appropriate choice given the watch's ecological goals. The oscillating weight of the modified BE-93-2AV calibre (based on ETA 2892-A2) features a shark fin pattern on the light blue dial.
Bremont Supermarine S302
Bremont unveiled their new dig this morning, showcasing a facility called 'The Wing' that will serve as the hub of the brand's operations and become a living embodiment of the Bremont 'way of life'. Watch a showcase of lovely buildings here. In addition to an initial look at the new facility, Bremont also showed off a nice collection of E-Types and, of course, some new watches for 2021. Among these new watches, we find a new addition to the Supermarine line, the S302, which immediately caught our attention by bringing a GMT function to the excellent S301 we first saw in 2017.

The S302 uses the same 40mm case size as the S301, and a 13mm thick watch should be very comfortable on the wrist, provided those long, shapely lugs are kept in check. The case itself features Bremont's meticulously engineered Trip-Tick construction using three pieces, including a DLC-treated scratch-resistant barrel. The unique construction is nice to see from an angle, which remains a personal favorite feature of Bremont watches.
As mentioned, the S302 features a 24-hour hand with a large arrow at the tip and a bright orange outline for better visibility. The complexity comes from the in-house BE-93-2AV automatic movement. This is a modified ETA 2892-A2 with an Anachron hairspring and Glucydur balance. As a Bremont watch, it's also a chronometer, keeping you within -4/+6 seconds with a 38-hour power reserve.
Devon TREAD 1
As a Supermarine, the S302 is a hybrid of an aviation and diving watch, so you get a chunky bezel and screw-down crown and a depth rating of 300 meters. The circular hour chart is in keeping with this genre, while the 24-hour scale appears on the rehaut around the perimeter of the dial for the GMT hand. Overall, the design is simple and easy to use, and the off-white lumens don't feel as full as pre-aging but feel like a conscious color match.
To get the watch on track, they enlisted the help of ultra-runner Nick Butt, who will run 200 marathons off the coast of England in 100 days. That's two marathons a day, or 52.4 miles, for a total of 5,240 miles. During the 100-day period, Nick will wear the S302 on his wrist. I'm guessing he'd opt for the available NATO style strap instead of the Sahara vintage leather one.
